Description

Finest PCGS Certified 1911 Quarter, Superb Cameo Proof

1911 25C PR68 Cameo PCGS. A razor-sharp specimen with gorgeously preserved surfaces. The white on black contrast is impressive, as this untoned Superb Gem has fully frosted devices. Even close examination with magnification fails to reveal any marks or other possible pedigree identifiers. Mintages of proof Barber coinage gradually diminished as the series progressed. Only 543 pieces were struck, which is the third lowest production of the type. This is the single finest example thus far certified by PCGS as a cameo proof (1/05).
