Description

1878 8TF $1 Pierced Eyelid, VAM-6, MS65 PCGS. CAC. The first Morgan dollar struck at Philadelphia in 1878 had eight tailfeathers, but due to a public outcry, the engravers prepared new hubs with seven tailfeathers, since eagles "never had an even number of tailfeathers." This lovely Gem exhibits fully brilliant and untoned silver surfaces with reflective fields and lustrous devices.
