Description
1873-CC Double Eagle, XF45
Partly Flashy Fields
1873-CC $20 XF45 NGC. Variety 1-A. Without the misplaced
date digit in the dentils below 73. This Choice XF Carson City
double eagle retains a surprising and substantial degree of field
reflectivity considering its time spent in commerce. Orange-gold
surfaces show devices that were clearly well-struck but now exhibit
expected merging. There are a few heavy abrasions on Liberty's
cheek and brow, and on the curls below the B in LIBERTY, but eye
appeal is good. From a mintage of 22,410 coins. From The Simba Collection, Part III. (Registry values: N2998)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AJ, PCGS# 8968, Greysheet# 9917)
