Scarce, Low-Mintage Issue

1848 $1 AU58 NGC. OC-1, R.2. Ex: Dick Osburn and the Osburn-Cushing Reference Collections. OC Die State a/a. Powder-blue and pale golden-gray toning frequents this richly detailed example, which has its share of subtle satin luster despite a brief stay in circulation. The right obverse and the field near UNITED display some wispy marks. Only 15,000 pieces were struck, ranking the 1848 issue among the scarcer Seated dollar dates. Census: 17 in 58, 10 finer (12/18).
