Description
1882 Liberty Nickel Pattern
Judd-1690, PR50
1882 5C Liberty Head Five Cents, Judd-1690, Pollock-1892, R.5,
PR50 ANACS. Ex: 2000 ANA Sale. This Liberty nickel pattern
closely approximates the issued 1883 No Cents variety, although
there are slight differences in the positioning of the devices
relative to the stars and peripheral legends. Struck in nickel with
a plain edge. This is a true transitional striking for the Liberty
nickel; in fact, in the past it has been described as the "exact
issue of 1883." Just the slightest trace of rub is seen on each
side. The fields retain deep reflectivity with noticeable cameo
contrast evident also. Gray-rose patina is seen over each side.Ex: 2000 ANA Sale (Bowers and Merena, 8/2000), lot 4083.
