Description

1866 Motto Dollar, PR65 Cameo
OC-P2, Vibrant Multicolor Toning

1866 $1 Motto PR65 Cameo NGC. OC-P2, R.3. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. An intermittent horizontal die line through the base of GOD is a pick-up point for proof 1866 silver dollars. This first-year Motto specimen exhibits memorable navy-blue, cherry-red, and orange-gold toning. The strike is bold, and imperfections are not readily evident. Both sides have a partial wire rim. Osburn-Cushing estimate 500 proof survivors, and OC-P2 constitutes about two-thirds of that number. OC-P1 and OC-P2 were struck by the same reverse die, but can be distinguished by the date location, which is further east on OC-P2.(Registry values: N4719)
