Description

1854-O $10 Large Date XF45 PCGS. Variety 2. The oversized date is unmistakable on this New Orleans issue, filling the area beneath the bust truncation, with the 1 just touching the bust tip. Bright, yellow-gold surfaces show light field chatter and small abrasions, with traces of mint luster among the stars. Struck from a late die state, the coin has brief die erosion outside of the left-hand stars and a bold die crack to the hair bun between stars 10 and 11. The strike is soft at the centers but sharp elsewhere, with minor wear for the Choice XF level. Population: 14 in 45, 80 finer (1/19).(Registry values: N991)
