Description

1860 Gold Dollar, PR62 Cameo
Wonderful Wheat-Gold Example

1860 G$1 JD-1, R.6, PR62 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Inky black surfaces are contrasted with wonderful, wheat-gold devices. The surfaces are lightly abraded, but no individual contact marks are distracting. Only slight weakness exists on the uppermost strands of hair and details of the leaves. While the original mintage of 1860 proof gold dollars is 154 coins, all but approximately 30 were melted in January 1862, as the Civil War dampened sales.
