1883 No Cents Liberty Nickel, MS66 CAC
Stunning Clean and Lustrous
A Famous One-Year Type

1883 5C No Cents MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1883 No Cents Liberty nickel debuted Charles Barber's Liberty Head and Roman numeral design, but the lack of a clear denomination on the coin led to racketeering issues with the coins being plated and passed off as half eagles. A little more than 5.4 million No Cents pieces were struck before the design was changed to include CENTS on the lower reverse. This Premium Gem is even more pristine than its lofty grade suggests. Brilliant cartwheel luster exhibits the usual satiny sheen, unhindered by toning, and unabraded overall. Moreover, the strike is sharp, with only obverse stars 1 and 2 showing weakness. Housed in a Generation 3.0 green label holder with CAC endorsement.(Registry values: N1793)
