Description

1831 Bust Quarter, MS64
B-1, Small Letters
Gold CAC, Old Green Holder

1831 25C Small Letters, B-1, R.3, MS64 PCGS. Gold CAC. Tompkins Die State 1/4. The reverse is lapped in this state, with heavy cracks through the left-hand legends and olive branch, and through the arrowheads and denomination. The current coin boasts a sharp strike and frosty, vibrant original mint luster. Light golden toning graces the reverse, while the obverse displays deeper gold in the center with amber in the margins. A sharp strike prevails throughout the relief elements. CAC considers this piece undergraded at the MS64 level, awarding it the rare and coveted CAC Gold label. We concur with CAC's assessment of this remarkable coin. Housed in a Generation 3.0 green label holder. Population (all Small Letters varieties included): 82 in 64 (7 in 64+), 25 finer. Gold CAC: 1 in 64, 1 finer (11/24).
