Description

1808/7 Half Dollar, MS64
O-101, Late Die State

1808/7 50C MS64 PCGS. O-101, R.1. A magnificent near-Gem of this prominent and collectible overdate. A later die state than usual with additional cracks through AMERICA, star 3, and the 1 in the date. Lustrous and well struck with light stone-gray centers and peripheral autumn-gold toning. No marks are remotely consequential though the cheek displays minor granularity. The serif, crossbar, and downstroke of the underdigit are obvious despite long-in-use dies. The 1808/7 is relatively plentiful in worn grades but near-Gems are both rare and desirable. Population: 7 in 64 (1 in 64+), 2 finer (11/13).
