1942-P Jefferson Nickel, PR68
Wartime Silver Issue

1942-P 5C Type Two PR68 PCGS. Ex: Tom Mershon Collection. This silver issue has a different texture and striking quality than the previous nickel issues. Since silver is a softer metal it naturally strikes up better than nickel, a general characteristic that continues through the war years. This fabulous piece is brilliant in the centers and surrounded by thin bands of multicolored iridescence at the margins. Population: 11 in 68, 1 finer (4/13).
