1873 William Barber Trade Dollar in Silver
Judd-1310, PR66
1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1310, Pollock-1453, R.4, PR66
NGC. This popular William Barber Trade dollar pattern shows
Liberty seated on the obverse with an Indian headdress, Liberty
pole and cap in her right hand, left hand resting on a globe, and
conjoined flags behind. The reverse has a small eagle in the upper
half with most of the statutory legends above and below, two of
which are on scrolls. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Sold in
silver six-piece sets by the Mint for $30. This design combination
exists in silver, copper, aluminum, and white metal. This example
is well-preserved and shows deeply reflective fields with varying
shades of lighter red and deeper cherry-red (at the margins) and a
thin trimming of blue over the denticles.From The Siegel Collection.
