Description
1856-S Liberty Head Twenty, AU58
CAC, Ex: S.S. Central America
1856-S $20 Split Serif, Variety-17J, AU58 PCGS. CAC. Ex:
S.S. Central America, SSCA 5764. An appropriately graded
piece, yielding near-prooflike fields around sharp, frosty devices
amid a bath of rich orange-gold coloration. The faintest rub is
discernible, and perhaps the light scuffing in the fields is all
that denied this piece Mint State classification from PCGS. Even
so, it is on par visually with many low-end Uncirculated coins we
have seen. The CAC endorsement echoes our assessment. An overall
delightful Central America treasure coin, still in its gold
foil holder.(Registry values: P4)Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 70019, Base PCGS# 8919, Greysheet# 226338)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
