Description

1922-D Cent, MS66+ Red
Tied Atop the Condition Census

1922-D 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. Only the Denver Mint struck cents in 1922, producing 7.16 million coins -- a moderately low mintage for the series, even at this early date. Full Red examples are scarce in Gem or better condition, and they are rare in MS66. This Plus-designated piece is tied for finest known (11/24). Sharp devices complement satiny copper-orange luster, with no obvious abrasions. A faint fleck appears near the lower left curve of the C in CENT, but the rest of the coin is virtually unblemished. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 26 in 66 (4 in 66+) Red, 0 finer. CAC: 11 in 66, 0 finer (11/24).
