1848 Half Cent, PR63 Brown
B-1, Original Striking
1848 1/2 C Original PR63 Brown PCGS. CAC. B-1, Low R.6.
There are three die varieties of 1848 proof half cents. The B-1
original proofs have large wreath berries. B-2 and B-3 are
restrikes with small berries on the wreath. This fully struck
specimen displays attractive apple-green and light brown patina,
with hints of faded red in protected regions. A tiny tick beneath
the L in HALF provides an identifier. The obverse exhibits a
partial wire rim, as made. Our EAC grade PR60. Population: 2 in 63
Brown, 2 finer. CAC: 1 in 63, 1 finer (7/19).Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2015), lot 3090, realized $11,162.50.
