Description

1848 Half Cent, PR63 Brown
Breen-2, First Restrike

1848 1/2 C First Restrike PR63 Brown PCGS. B-2, R.5. The proof-only half cent is known by three Breen varieties. The Small Berries proofs are considered restrikes, and those with a doubled T in CENT are first restrikes. This unmarked specimen has cherry-red, sea-green, and orange-gold toning that deepens near the rims. The centers show incompleteness of impression, but peripheral elements are sharply struck. Scattered minor carbon determines the grade. Our EAC grade PR60.
