Description

1935 Lincoln Cent, MS68+ Red CAC
Tied for Finest Certified

Unrivaled Quality and Eye Appeal

1935 1C MS68+ Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. The Condition Census of the 1935 Lincoln cent consists of a handful of MS68+ Red pieces. PCGS reports three coins in this finest-known grade, NGC two. Moreover, some duplication is possible, as some of the coins reported at the lofty MS68+ Red level have not appeared at auction. In fact, only two of them have: this coin, and another of the PCGS pieces. These two MS68+ specimens account for two of the three 1935 Lincoln cents endorsed by CAC at the MS68 Red numeric level overall. Is this piece tied with four others for finest known? Is it tied with two others for finest known? While the exact number of 1935 cents slabbed as MS68+ Red could be anywhere from three to five, there is no challenging the Whispering Pines coin as one of the two or three finest. Indeed, many collectors may consider it the finest, and now that it bears the Whispering Pines pedigree, history may well remember it in those terms.

The glittering surfaces of this high-end Superb Gem are so flawless preserved that pedigree markers are nearly nonexistent. With two photos of this coin side-by-side, one can discern microscopic surface characteristics to determine a plate match, but otherwise the coin may as well be flawless with luminous satin luster and rich color. On the obverse, the hue is peach-gold, while the reverse is fire-orange. You will, quite simply, not find a superior example of the 1935 Lincoln cent. Population: 26 in 68 (3 in 68+) Red, 0 finer. CAC: 3 in 68, 0 finer (11/24).
