Description
1840-C Two and a Half
Mint State Sharpness
1840-C $2 1/2 -- Obverse Scratched -- NGC Details. Unc. Variety
1. A cursory evaluation might cause the viewer to conclude that
the present lot ranks among the finest 1840-C quarter eagles. The
strike is uncommonly sharp for the Charlotte Mint, and the
almond-gold surfaces are generally pleasing. Study beneath a lens
reveals a couple of pinscratches on each side, the most apparent
behind Liberty's neck and above the eagle's head.
Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
