Description

1950-S Lincoln Cent, MS68 Red
Long-Time Recognized as High-End
Condition Census

1950-S 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. While plentiful in lower grades, the 1950-S Lincoln cent emerges as a great rarity in the lofty grade of MS68 Red. NGC has certified just two MS68 Red examples, a number that has merely added one coin within the last 14 years. PCGS reports three MS68 Red pieces in this grade. When we first handled this coin in 2010, it was the sole finest known. The fact that a few additional pieces now grade at the same numeric level does not tarnish this coin's reputation. It is the longest-recognized top-grade piece known. The incredible frosty orange mint luster trumps a slightly weak strike. Another fine acquisition for Registry Set specialists.
