Description

1954 Cent, MS67 Red
The Sole Superb Gem With CAC
None Known Finer

1954 1C MS67 Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Whispering Pines. The 1954 is a plentiful date in full Red condition, and while rare in MS67 Red, two dozen pieces have been certified at that level by PCGS, and several dozen more at NGC. It is interesting, however, that none of these pieces are Plus designated. Thus, while MS67 Reds are occasionally seen, the most advanced collectors will have difficulty finding an example that is truly high-end for that top grade. The Whispering Pines coin singularly stands out as the only Superb Gem 1954 Lincoln cent with a CAC green "bean," making it, effectively, the finest piece known.

Incredible copper-red luster with luminous fields and bold devices produce compelling eye appeal, with no abrasions of note. A lone fleck at the back of Lincoln's shoulder will serve as a pedigree marker for future offerings of what will be long regarded as the finest 1954 Lincoln cent: the Whispering Pines Superb Gem. Population: 24 in 67 Red, 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 67, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N991)
