Description
1954-S Lincoln Cent, MS68 Red
Tied for Finest Certified
The Finest We Have Ever Offered
1954-S 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Ex: Whispering Pines. The 1954-S
coin in the Whispering Pines collection is another piece breaking
new ground in the auction market for Registry-grade Lincoln cents.
It is one of three coins graded MS68 Red by PCGS, along with
another seven in the same grade at NGC. However, prior to the
emergence of this piece, only one other PCGS coin in this grade has
appeared at auction, and none of the NGC pieces have come up for
auction. The Whispering Pines piece is the first MS68 Red 1954-S we
have seen from either of these services.A bold strike complements frosty, pristine copper-red luster with no spots or abrasions. The eye appeal is stunning, the preservation virtually flawless. This piece will undoubtedly go down as one of the greatest surviving 1954-S cents known. Population: 3 in 68 Red, 0 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N991)
From The Whispering Pines Collection.
