Description
1908-S Indian Half Eagle, MS65+
Third Lowest Mintage
1908-S $5 MS65+ PCGS. The San Francisco Mint produced 82,000
of these half eagles during the debut of the new recessed design
that is sometimes incorrectly termed incuse. While these coins were
unpopular at the time they were issued, the 1908-S issues are more
available than later years based on mintage figures. The 1908-S
ranks 18th of the 24 issues in PCGS MS65 or finer grades. This
beautiful example features bold design motifs and frosty
orange-gold luster with trivial marks of no consequence.
Population: 52 in 65 (5 in 65+), 22 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N7079)From The Don Kutz California Collection.
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28DG, PCGS# 8512, Greysheet# 9318)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
