Description

1909 Indian Half Eagle, MS66
None Numerically Finer

1909 $5 MS66 PCGS. PCGS and NGC combined have certified 19 examples of this issue in MS66 and three others as MS66+, and those 22 coins top the grading charts for the 1909 Indian half eagle. All Indian half eagles are conditionally rare in grades above MS65. PCGS has certified 79 submissions in MS66, 15 in MS66+, 13 in MS67, and one each in MS67+ and MS68. Those population totals are not for the 1909 issue. Indeed, those are the population totals for all 24 Indian half eagle issues combined. The brilliant and highly lustrous surfaces display vibrant orange-gold, lemon, and pale blue-green toning. The strike is excellent and the presentation is aesthetically delightful.
