Description

1873 Arrows Dime, VF25
Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101

1873 10C Arrows, Doubled Die Obverse, F-103, FS-101, R.6, VF25 PCGS. The entry in the Fivaz-Stanton reference says a great deal about this rarity: "Although well known for decades, very few specimens have been reported." Probably no more than 15 to 30 coins are known. Obverse doubling is most dramatic on the shield, which shows a "second" shield to the right of the prominent one. Light gray surfaces exhibit few mentionable defects, the most obvious being a planchet void in the right obverse field, a shallow X-shaped scratch to the right of Liberty's head, and a horizontal mark across the O in ONE on the reverse.
