1871 Three Dollar, MS62
Minuscule Mintage of 1,300 Pieces
1871 $3 MS62 NGC. It is little wonder this MS62 three dollar
gold piece maintains noticeable field reflectivity. Only 1,300
pieces were struck in 1871, a lower total than many proof mintages
in other series. This is probably a later impression, with softness
on the upper curls, cotton bolls, date, and ribbon. Nevertheless,
procuring a finer example will prove immensely challenging. Census:
