Description

1910-S Five Dollar Indian, MS64
Impressively Well Struck
Rarely Offered This Fine

1910-S $5 MS64 PCGS. Despite a mintage of more than 770,000 coins, the 1910-S Indian Head five is seldom seen in any grade above MS62. It is scarce in MS63, borderline rare in MS64, and out of reach for most collectors in MS65. Since our Permanent Auction Archives began in 1993, we have handled a Gem example of this date on only seven occasions, the last of which was more than four years ago. Similarly, we have seen only a handful of Choice examples within the last decade.

The current piece displays rich orange-gold and peach hues across softly frosted mint luster. Razor-sharp definition throughout the feathers adds to the eye appeal, while a few light marks in the reverse fields are all that prevent Gem classification. Population: 26 in 64 (6 in 64+), 7 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N7079)
