Description

1876-CC Eagle, XF45 CAC
Winter 1-A

1876-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Winter 1-A, the only dies. All the Carson City eagles from the 1870s and 1880s are elusive, low-mintage issues as the Nevada Mint was primarily concerned with double eagle production, and starting in 1878, Morgan dollar coinage. Less than 300,000 eagles were struck of all 19 Carson City issues from 1870 to 1893, and one-third of those were struck in 1891. The 1876 issue, with a mintage of 4,696 coins, was the seventh lowest production of CC eagles. This harvest-gold example has hints of luster with scattered marks. Reddish-gold accents appear at the peripheries and a small splash of light orange toning above the right shield corner will identify this example. Population: 27 in 45, 24 finer (11/24).(Registry values: N4719)
