Description

1918-S Half Dollar, MS65
Strike Rarity, Colorful Accents

1918-S 50C MS65 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Duckor. This is one of the most elusive dates in the entire series in Gem condition. A majority of the 10.2 million coins struck entered into circulation. Those that were saved are generally found through MS64 but no higher. Strike can be a problem for the 1918-S, in part explaining its rarity in MS65.

Partial detail is seen on the branch hand. The head and trailing leg exhibit characteristic softness for this S-mint strike rarity. Mostly bright silver surfaces display complementary accents of powder-blue, green, violet, and gold. Frosty with nearly unmarked fields. Population: 33 in 65 (2 in 65+), 3 finer. CAC: 26% of submissions for this issue/grade passed. 7 in 65, 2 finer (11/17).
