Description

1807 Draped Bust Half, AU55
O-109a, Dramatic Die State

1807 50C Draped Bust, O-109a, T-2, R.3, AU55 NGC. Predominately pearl-gray, although freckles of forest-green reside in peripheral recesses. Impressively devoid of abrasions. An intermediate to late die state with a reverse crack through STA but not through ATES. A heavy diagonal crack across the portrait, from the hair ribbon to the drapery, is undescribed in the Overton fifth edition. The lower left obverse field is buckled, which contributes to weakness of strike on the neck curls and, opposite, in the vicinity of the eagle's beak. The remainder of the design is bold.
Ex: Tompkins T-2 Plate Coin.
