Description
1876 Liberty Head Twenty, MS64
Among the Finest at NGC
1876 $20 MS64 NGC. Light Motto, with two longer rays next to
the eagle's left (facing) wingtip. Like all Type Two double eagles,
this Philadelphia issue becomes notably rare at the MS64 grade or
any finer. In lesser grades, it is readily available. This Choice
Uncirculated example is especially attractive for its assigned
grade. Frosted honey-gold surfaces display plentiful mint luster
and the strike is razor-sharp. A few light marks in the left left
field below Liberty's chin and a short abrasion above and left of
star 13 likely preclude a finer technical grade, yet the eye appeal
is Gem-quality all the way. Census: 10 in 64 (1 in 64★ ), 0
finer (11/24).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AV, PCGS# 8976, Greysheet# 9814)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
