Description
1902 Double Eagle, MS64
Remarkably Rare at This Grade
1902 $20 MS64 NGC. Surprisingly, the 1902 is one of the
lowest-mintage double eagles of the 20th century (31,140 coins). It
is the rarest Liberty Head twenty struck in 1900s, and when found
it usually grades ranging from AU to lower Mint State. Choice
Uncirculated and finer examples are extremely rare. This near-Gem
is sharply struck, unusual for this issue that is often seen weak
on the stars, hair strands, and eagle's plumage. Both sides display
frosty orange-gold luster, displaying occasional splashes of faint
of lemon-yellow accents illuminated by flashy mint luster. A few
marks around Liberty's eye are the most noticeable marks that
preclude full Gem classification. NGC Census: 7 in 64 (1 in 64+), 1
finer (11/24).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CU, PCGS# 9041, Greysheet# 9837)
Weight: 33.44 grams
