Description

1866-S $5 Motto VF35 NGC. This Choice VF example displays beautiful old-time surfaces, cast in olive-gold patina with tinges of fire-orange in the protected areas. Light surface chatter is consistent with the grade, and wear is even. The 1866-S With Motto half eagle is significantly scarcer than most Dahlonega and Charlotte issues, although it remains underrated by comparison. Fewer than 100 pieces are believed to survive. Census: 2 in 35, 32 finer (7/19).
