Description

1845-O $10 AU50 NGC. Breen-6869, Variety 1. All four date digits are repunched, most prominently on the 8 and 4. The top of the second vertical shield stripe has a small circular area absent. This mint-made feature is undoubtedly related to the "Shield Ring" varieties found on selected 1848 to 1853 Philadelphia and New Orleans issues. Breen suggests that this is a rare variety. A richly detailed and luminous O-mint representative with scattered minor to moderate marks.(Registry values: N2998)
