Choice XF Noe-29 Small Planchet Pine Tree Shilling
1652 SHILNG Pine Tree Shilling, Small Planchet XF45 NGC. Noe-29, Crosby 14-R, R.3. 72.7 grains. The Noe-29 is an easily attributable variety as the lowest branches on both sides of the tree curve noticeably upward, and the M in MASATHVSETS is recut. This is a well centered Small Planchet piece that is only slightly off the planchet at the top of the obverse. The fields show deep, almost charcoal-gray patina with brilliantish-gray accents over the highpoints of the design. A pleasing Choice XF example of this relatively common Small Planchet shilling.(#24)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2ARZ, PCGS# 24, Greysheet# 10)
