Description

1858-S Half Eagle, AU50
An Important Condition Rarity

1858-S $5 AU50 NGC. Relatively few of the 18,600 1858-S half eagles have survived owing to their extensive use in the channels of commerce. About Uncirculated is the finest that can reasonably be acquired as Mint State pieces are virtually unobtainable. The yellow-gold surfaces of the present offering display traces of luster in the recesses and are well defined, save for the usual softness on the arrow feathers. The few scattered marks do not detract.(Registry values: P8)
