Description

Victoria 50 Cents 1900, Ex: Norweb Collection, KM6, MS64 PCGS, MS63 ICCS. Previously sold by Michael Walsh in his February 21-22, 2003 Torex Auction in Toronto where it was described, "This is a fully struck piece with strongly lustrous and quite flawless surfaces that are attractively toned on the obverse in light mauve tans with iridescent blue accents, while the reverse has beautiful iridescent orange, blue, and violet accents. It is accompanied by an ICCS Executive Certificate which accords it with Great Eye Appeal." The remaining part of Michael's description includes mention of PCGS and ICCS population figures, which have changed. The Belzberg coin was an MS63 PCGS, and although PCGS has now graded a single coin MS65, we doubt that it is appreciably nicer than this near-Gem example, which, despite a few tiny obverse contact marks, has a superb overall appearance and lovely originality. We might mention that this piece realized $38,500 Canadian in the 2003 Torex auction.
