Description

1800 Draped Bust Dollar, XF45
Very Scarce B-1, BB-181 Variety

1800 $1 B-1, BB-181, R.5, XF45 PCGS. Ex: Miller. Bowers Die State I. The Bowers plate coin for the BB-181 variety. A Choice and still-lustrous example of the scarce die pair, which is unknown in full Mint State. Slate-gray accents occupy the central obverse surrounded by vibrant, khaki-gold undertones illuminated by an exceptional amount of remaining mint luster. The reverse is less densely toned, yet well-balanced with the obverse in coloration and equally vibrant for the XF level. Marks are minor for the moderate circulation. A minor rim bump is noted above AT of STATES that serves to pedigree the piece, which is a strong Condition Census representative of the challenging variety.
