Description
1899 Half Eagle, MS67+
Tied for Finest at PCGS
1899 $5 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. A high mintage of more than 1.7
million pieces makes the 1899 an ideal type coin for many
collectors. Five dollar gold specialists assembling a high-grade
set will find it virtually impossible to improve on the present
coin, which sits atop the PCGS population data and displays CAC
endorsement too. The surfaces are incredibly well-preserved and
frosty -- with glittering, light-orange surfaces and pinpoint
striking details. Luminous surfaces reveal only one or two tiny
marks under magnification, wholly insignificant even at this high
grade. Population: 5 in 67 (2 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 67, 0
finer (3/23).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25YS, PCGS# 8398, Greysheet# 8945)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
