1851 1C MS65 Brown NGC. N-27, Low R.5. A suitably struck Gem that features deep chestnut-brown patina with glimpses of the original crimson color. A light handling mark near the coronet tip, but otherwise close to pristine. A tough Newcomb variety. Although Heritage does not claim to have seen every example of N-27, we believe that this piece resides within the Condition Census for the variety. As of (1/05), NGC has only certified two examples of N-27, the other as MS67 Brown.(#1892)(Registry values: N991)
