Description

Conditionally Scarce 1839 Silly Head Large Cent

1839 1C Silly Head MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. An ever-popular variety among type collectors and early copper specialists alike, the present representative is toned in mottled glossy brown shades. Plenty of faded orange-red luster is seen outlining most, if not all of the devices. There is some softness of strike over the left borders, but both sides are suitably sharp over the focal features. This attractive Gem is free of bothersome abrasions and singularly mentionable carbon flecks. Population: 1 in 65, 0 finer (4/03).
