Description

1839-O No Drapery Dime, MS66
Large O Reverse, Rare This Well-Preserved

1839-O 10C No Drapery, Large O, F-105, R.3, MS66 PCGS. Rich gunmetal-gray toning embraces the centers of this coruscating and razor-sharp Premium Gem No Drapery dime. The borders are closer to brilliant. Marks are absent save for a single vertical line beneath star 1. The No Drapery, With Stars New Orleans subtype is scarce as it was coined for just two years. Both the 1839-O and the 1840-O No Drapery issues are rare in Mint State, but the earlier date is slightly more plentiful for type purposes. This Premium Gem example is nearly Condition Census, although in this grade it is just as rare as the handful of technically finer pieces. No Drapery type coins of any date and mint are highly sought-after in this remarkable condition. Population (all varieties included): 4 in 66 (1 in 66+), 3 finer (9/16).
