Description

1996-D Cent on a 1995-D Dime, MS65

1996-D 1C Lincoln Cent -- Overstruck on a 1995-D Dime -- MS65 NGC. This double denomination mint error shows plentiful evidence of the undertype. Roosevelt's head is well outlined and gazes south relative to Lincoln. The cent mintmark is sharp, as is the 96 in the cent date. The dime date and mintmark are evident near 2:30. A lustrous and untoned 11-cent piece. Probably struck in late 1995, though the dime could have been wedged in a transport bin for months until it came between cent dies.
