Description

1825 Quarter Eagle, BD-2, AU58
Well-Struck and Attractive

1825 $2 1/2 AU58 PCGS. BD-2, High R.4. There are three varieties of the 1825 quarter eagle. The BD-2 variety, with an estimated population of 80 to 100 coins, is the most available of the three die pairs, though still very scarce regardless of grade. The variety is confirmed by the recut 5 in the date, which is slightly lower than the 2, the fraction is nearly centered under the arrow feather, and a large D in the denomination.

Sharply struck, this lightly circulated example exhibits lustrous yellow-gold surfaces, providing the coin with strong visual appeal. A few scattered marks do not pose a distraction on this attractive piece. Population: 5 in 58, 22 finer (11/13).(Registry values: P5)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25FG, PCGS# 7664, Greysheet# 8221)

Weight: 4.37 grams

Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
