1849-O G$1 Open Wreath MS62 NGC. Variety 1. Repunched letters include the R in DOLLAR and the ME in AMERICA. The TAT in STATES is much wider than the TE. Presumably the first gold dollar die pair struck at New Orleans, prior to receipt of a fully hubbed reverse die. A lustrous and smooth butter-gold example.(Registry values: N1793)
