1850 Large Date Eagle, MS61
Popular Guide Book Variety, Rare in Mint State
1850 $10 Large Date MS61 NGC. Two different obverse dies are
known for the Large Date variety, the most perceptible difference
being the position of the 1 in the date related to the forward bust
tip. This is the Large Date obverse with the date further right,
the 1 somewhat right of the lowest point of the bust. Wheat-gold
surfaces show a few scattered marks and numerous obverse die cracks
at the periphery. The Large Date is commoner than the Small Date
but nonetheless quite rare in Mint State. Census: 8 in 61, 9 finer
