Description

1857 Three Cent Silver, Colorful MS66
Type Two Condition Rarity

1857 3CS MS66 PCGS. Type Two three cent silver coins are challenging to find in MS66. Despite a mintage in excess of 1 million coins, there are only 15 Premium Gem submissions at PCGS (1 in MS66+) with two higher grading events (7/16). The level of preservation here is far better than the typical 1857 representative, but clash marks around bold central motifs and lightly defined margins are characteristic for the issue. Attractively toned in violet, blue, and green patina with softly frosted luster shining through.(Registry values: N2998)
