Superb 1878 Three Cent Nickel, Sole Ultra Cameo NGC Example
1878 3CN PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC. The portrait has exceptional cameo frost, and the remainder of the devices and legends also exhibit strong white on black distinction. Meticulously struck and nearly immaculate, this untoned proof-only specimen can be identified by a tiny planchet flaw near the southwest corner of the first denomination pillar. The present piece is the only 1878 Three Cent Nickel to receive an Ultra Cameo definition from NGC.
