Description

1858-O Dime, Razor-Sharp MS65
An Exceptional Example

1858-O 10C F-101, R.2, MS65 NGC. Gerry Fortin rates the 1858-O R.6 in Mint State and writes: "Only one pair of dies seen. Soft strikes are the rule especially at the head, breast and shield. The reverse leaves and bow knot are also typically weak." This Gem is the exception in every regard. The strike is razor-sharp on the head, stars, shield, and wreath elements. Vibrant luster shines through cobalt-blue peripheral toning and light gold patina over the centers. Census: 4 in 65, 2 finer (8/16).
