1882 5C Liberty Head Five Cents, Judd-1690, Pollock-1892, R.5, PR66 Cameo NGC. A Liberty nickel pattern that closely approximates the issued 1883 No Cents variety, although there are slight differences in the positioning of the devices relative to the stars and peripheral legends. USPatterns.com calls it "a popular precursor to the Liberty nickel." Struck in nickel with a plain edge. A nicely mirrored slate-white specimen with minimal carbon and no evidence of contact. Census: 1 in 66 Cameo, 1 finer as 67 without a Cameo designation (8/12).
